Taoiseach Admits Events Centre Sod Turning Was A Mistake

Leo Varadkar's comments come as an Easter target for progress on funding set by Tánaiste Simon Coveney passed without further development.
The Taoiseach told the Irish Examiner that the lack of progress on the 6,000 seater events centre, which has stalled over a disagreement about a €9 million portion of the €30 million government funding, is embarrassing but said the government is committed to getting the project over the line.
Last month it was revealed that over €845,000 of public money has been spent on efforts to get the project to fruition since 2013.
Labour's Peter Horgan submitted the Freedom of Information Request and speaking to RedFM News he says the public are still in the dark about the project in spite of the spend so far:
