Taoiseach: British Government Can't Act Alone To Exempt Soldiers For Alleged Crimes Committed During Troubles

Micheál Martin and Boris Johnson discussed the issue yesterday at a meeting that lasted around an hour and a half

Johnson's government has been considering a ban on prosecutions for British soldiers that served in Northern Ireland.

But Taoiseach Micheál Martin says any suggestion of changing the Stormont House agreement on legacy issues must consult all voices:

"We did discuss Stormont House, and we agreed that only that both governments would continue to exchange perspectives on it, but there's been no agreement or any specific movement on it. What we said very clearly was that there has to be an inclusive process around all issues to do with Stormont House."
