Taoiseach is being urged to match crowdfunding of €56,000 to train 300 women to run for the next local election.
Leo Varadkar described himself as a "feminist" this week, and set a target of 20 female TDs for Fine Gael after the next general election
However he only appointed just seven women to his cabinet, compared to 25 men.
Niamh Gallagher, from the group Women For Election, recognises that it's more difficult for the Taoiseach to promote women - as only 22% of all TDs are female.
