Taoiseach meets with East Cork schools amid capacity issues

The Department of Education is to complete a review of schools in the East Cork area that are facing serious capacity issues

Recently the principal of St Marys told RedFM News there are around 70 children are on a waiting list for a place in St Mary's High School in Midleton.

Twelve year olds are facing waiting lists with anxious parents hiding the post that their children might not be able to go to the same school as their friends.

Speaking to RedFM News Fianna Fáil TD for Cork East James O'Connor said that todays meeting was positive and the Department of Education will be stepping up with local secondary school engagement:

"In today's meeting, the Department of Education said they're going to consider compiling a review into the situation in the East cork area, and they're also going to step up your engagement with local secondary schools, so that's the positive."
