The Taoiseach's planned apology to the women affected by the CervicalCheck controversy is "a bit late coming."

That's the view of Sinn Fein's health spokesperson, Louise O'Reilly.

After his meeting with patient advocates yesterday, it was announced Leo Vardakar will make a formal state apology in the Dáil when it resumes in the autumn.

Earlier this week, a 'rapid review' into the latest scandal surrounding the screening programme found more than 4,000 women weren't informed about their test results.
