Taxis call for fewer Coca Cola Zero bikes in the city

City centre taxi drivers are calling for a reduction in the amount of bikes available at each Coca Cola Zero bike station in the city. Concern has been raised about the amount of kerb space that the stations are taking up on busy city centre streets. It comes following complaints by taxi drivers in recent months about the removal of some of the city's busiest taxi ranks to facilitate new bicycle lanes. The roll-out of 31 Coca Cola Zero bike stations Leeside was officially completed today and currently over 2,500 people have registered for the scheme in Cork. However speaking to RedFM News Derry Coughlan of the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation says while they're welcoming the launch of the scheme their positioning in the city needs to be reviewed.
