Teachers to lose a class under new junior cycle agreement
Teacher unions will be voting on the new agreement in September.
Secondary School teachers are set to lose the equivalent of one class per week in order to facilitate planning and meetings in relation to the new reforms.
It follows agreement between teaching unions and the Education Minister on the contentious issue of junior cycle reform.
Jan O'Sullivan says she's determined necessary resources and teacher training will be in place to allow for classroom based assessment of students.
Teacher unions will vote in September on the new agreement and it's not clear at this stage whether or not each union will recommend the agreement.
Speaking to RedFM News, Education Correspondent with the Irish Examiner Niall Murray says parents shouldn't be concerned by this element of the proposed new agreement.
