Teen Remanded In Custody After Being Charged In Connection With A Hit And Run In The City

The incident resulted in a child spending several weeks in hospital
The 17 year old appeared at Cork District Court this afternoon and was charged with 10 separate offences arising out of the incident at an address in Cork City in March, including dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to the child, who cannot be named to protect their identity.
The teenager was also charged with driving a dangerously defective vehicle and with failing to stop, failing to keep their vehicle at the scene and and failing to report the incident to Gardaí
Defence solicitor Eddie Burke said his client was seeking bail, however Judge Olann Kelleher said he was refusing bail given the seriousness of the charge and remanded the teenager in custody to Oberstown House to appear at Cork District Court again on Friday.
