Tesco announces jobs boost

Supermarket chain Tesco is to create 200 new jobs. 18 positions will be up for grabs in Cork - 15 at Tesco's new convenience store on the Douglas Road and 3 positions will come on stream at Tesco Mobile in Wilton. The company has announced plans for seven new stores and six mobile phone shops across the country. The announcement's being made in Cork, where Tesco is opening a new express convenience store on the Douglas Road. It's one of five slated to open this year, with the others in Dublin. The retailer already employs 15,000 staff in Ireland and is one of the country's biggest private sector employers, with Tesco said to be worth €2.7 billion to the Irish economy.
