Tesco Initiative Aims To Reduce Food Poverty Among Families Across Cork

One in eight families in Cork is living in food poverty.
That’s according to retail giant Tesco Ireland who today pledged €150,000 euro to tackle food poverty as part of its National Community Chill initiative.
Tesco have donated 240,000 meals to 20 community groups across Cork in the past 18 months and this initiative will provide funds to food related good causes to buy fridges and freezers to store donated food.
The Mahon Youth development Centre, Hope for the Homeless, Feed Cork and Cork Foyer are among the groups to benefit from the initiative
Speaking to RedFM News Tesco Corporate Affairs Director Christine Heffernan says they hope to grow the initiative in Cork over the next 3 years:
