Test results confirm isolated case of 'classical' BSE

It follows the recent suspect case of BSE in County Louth.

The Department of Agriculture has confirmed the recent suspect case of BSE in County Louth is an isolated case of 'classical' BSE.

The Department says it's identified all animals potentially exposed to the BSE agent that caused this incident.

They've now been slaughtered, excluded from the food and feed chains, and tested.

It's now expected that Ireland will return to a controlled risk’ status.

IFA President Eddie Downey says that suspected cases can be expected occasionally.
