The city boundary needs to be extended to meet the housing demand

That's according to Chief Executive of Cork City Council Pat Ledwidge who says the council need more land to accommodate the growth of the city

The MacKinnon report proposes the expansion of the city to include areas such as Ballincollig, Blarney, Cork Airport, Glanmire and Little Island which was unanimously accepted by the City Council.

However the report has been met with concerns from members of the County council who say the extension will result in a loss of revenue generating areas for the council.

Speaking to RedFM News Deputy Chief Executive of Cork City Council Pat Ledwidge says there is no doubt about resources in delivering houses in the city.
