The Countdown Is On To The Competition Stage Of This Year's Rose of Tralee International Festival

The festival is celebrating its 60th year

32 Irish and international roses are taking part in this year's festival.

Stephanie McCarthy, a neuroscience graduate and mother-of-two is the Cork Rose this year.

The 27-year-old, who is currently studying for a masters in pharmaceutical technology, says the Rose of Tralee is about celebrating the diversity of women. 

The competition stage being broadcast live on RTE from 8pm tonight and tomorrow night. 

Speaking to RedFM News, Cork Rose Stephanie says regardless of what happens tonight, she's looking forward to representing Cork over the coming year:
