The Funeral Has Taken Place In Limerick Of Man Whose Body Wasn't Identified For 25 years

Remains found on Inis Mór in Galway in April 1996 were only confirmed to be Denis Walsh in February of this year
The 23 year old was reported missing from his home in Caherdavin in March 1996.
His body was kept in a Galway hospital for 18 years before being buried in a communal grave.
Limerick-based journalist David Raleigh says the family have many questions as to why Denis' remains were not identified sooner:
"The Forensic Science Laboratory tested the remains in July 2008, they tested the remains in March 2011 and again in June 2017, but a DNA match was never found. Now I have spoken the Walsh family a number of times and they've told me that Denis and Mary gave Gardaí saliva samples from themselves in 2012, but they had handed clothes belonging to Denis to Gardaí to test for DNA."
