The Garda Commissioner Says Yesterday's Anti-Lockdown Protest In Dublin Was A Move To Test The Public Appetite For More Of The Same

The protest descended intro a riot in the capital
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the rally "showed a complete lack of respect" to the public's sacrifices during the pandemic -- and branded attacks on Gardaí "thuggish".
Gardaí were spat on and pelted with fireworks and glass bottles as they tried to disperse crowds numbering in the hundreds from the Grafton Street area.
An incident room has been set up at Pearse Street Garda station -- and Commissioner Drew Harris says the force intends to make further arrests as a major criminal investigation begins.
