The HSE Has Apologised For The High Level Of Activity In Emergency Departments
It comes as 760 people lay on hospital trolleys across the country today, according to the INMO - a new record.
In response, the government has opened 50 new beds today and says funding is available for home help hours.
The INMO says the situation was entirely predictable and the excuse overcrowding's down to the flu simply doesn't hold.
Health Minister Simon Harris says it's difficult to say whether the situation will improve this week:
