The HSE says measures are being taken on derelict buildings nationwide in a bid to avoid a similar situation to that of St Kevin's

It comes as concerns were raised throughout the country on the condition of other derelict buildings owned by the HSE after the former asylum was gutted by a fire on Tuesday night

The Irish Examiner reports enhanced security measures have been put in place at St Kevin's on the Lee Road as a comprehensive structural assessment gets underway.

A structural report carried out this week by an engineer found that the historical building is salvageable.

Meanwhile Gardai are examining CCTV footage as well as online content as part of their investigation into the cause of the blaze.
