The Irish Blood Transfusion Service appeal for blood donations in Cork

Blood donations are slower during the summer months
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service say they are struggling to maintain a fresh supply of all blood types, and are asking donors in Cork to make a special effort to donate over the next couple of weeks.
Traditionally Blood donations are slower during the summer months, and the IBTS have warned that blood stocks of "O" positive are dangerously low.
"O" positive is the most common blood type and over 60% of patients in hospital require it.
Speaking to RedFM News Anne O'Donovan from the IBTS says one donation can save three lives.
