The National Ambulance Service has called on the HSE to provide more paramedics for the Cork area as a matter of urgency

It comes as the North Cork town of Millstreet has been left reeling following the announcement that the local ambulance service is being withdrawn
The NAS says retirement of staff turnaround times at hospitals and rural areas being forced to share ambulance services are all reasons the HSE should invest heavily in recruitment of new paramedics.
There are currently 14 emergency ambulances active on weekdays across Cork - 5 of these are are based in Cork City, the others service East Cork, Fermoy, Mallow, Kanturk, Macroom, Bantry, Skibbereen, Clonakilty, and Castletownbere.
Speaking to RedFM News National Ambulance Service Chairman Michael Dixon says the HSE needs to tackle this issue.
