The naval service is set to get a new multi role vessel which would replace the LE Eithné

The €200 million vessel would be capable of carrying troops, freight and a helicopter

The vessel would also have the capacity and flexibility for a wide range of maritime tasks both at home and abroad

The Irish Examiner reports that the Department of Defence has put a tender out to consultants to help it procure the €200 million vessel which is included in the Government's National Development plan as a major capital project

Consultants have until May 11th to apply for the tender
