The number of elderly people forced to wait on trolleys in Irish hospitals is bordering on a humanitarian crisis.
That's according to the Cork branch of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation who made the comments following the release of figures that show 9,206 people over the age of 75 were forced to wait more than 24 hours on trolleys in Emergency Departments since the start of the year....
While 102 patients over 75 spent more that 24 hours on trolleys at Cork University Hospital in January of this year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Conway from the INMO in Cork says elderly patients deserve better.
