There's Currently A Need For Up To Five Syringe Disposal Bins In The City

That's according to the Coordinator of the Drug and Alcohol Services for Cork and Kerry
Plans are a foot to double the number of these biohazard bins as well as recruit a second needle exchange worker in the city.
It follows concerns expressed by some residents living in the vicinity of a needle bin which was installed on Wellington Road.
However the HSE say in just one month prior to the installation of this bin 77 needles were collected from the area.That number has been reduced to zero since the bin was installed.
Speaking to RedFM News Coordinator of Drug and Alcohol Services for Cork and Kerry, David Lane says the bins have been successful and ultimately their job is to reduce drug use not encourage it:
