There's New Speculation Surrounding Cork's Proposed Northern Ring Road
A housing estate extension has been denied because the site is too close to the proposed route
The Echo reports that a 61-house extension to the Heathfield housing estate in Ballincollig has been refused planning permission by An Bord Pleanala to protect the planned corrider for the Northern Ring Road.
The long-awaited infrastructure, estimated to cost over 500 million euro, is not included in the Government's capital plan.
That's despite the plans being in existence for over 15 years.
A complete Northern Ring Road would join the M8 from the toll booth at Watergrasshill to the Poulavone Roundabout and the N22.
