Thousands of calls answered by the Samaritans in Cork

The figures come as the charity run a month long awareness campaign.
Volunteers with the Samaritans in Cork answered over 48, 600 calls last year.
It comes as the branch are holding awareness events throughout July as part of the charity's 'Talk to Us' campaign.
They are currenlty in Kent Station in the city and its one of over 100 events taking place in Ireland and the UK as part of the month long campaign.
Nationwide, volunteers with the charity answered almost 473,000 calls in 2014.
Speaking to RedFM News, Branch Director of the Cork Samaritans Michelle O'Shea says their helpline becoming free, saw a rise in the numbers of people contacting the service.
