Three Cork students achieve 8 A1's

The long wait is over for the 6,000 Leaving Cert students across Cork who are getting their results today. Schools across the city and county have been opening results from 9am this morning - with results currently available online. Three Cork students have achieved 8 A1's in the Leaving Cert 18 year olds Tim Fannon and Jack Hartnett who both attend Christians and Kevin Ryan from Colaiste Chroi Naofa in Carrignavar are celebrating being amongst the highest Leaving Cert achievers in the country Figures from the State Examinations Commission show a record number sitting Higher Level Maths - with more than 14-thousand taking the paper this year. 10% of those students earned an A - a drop of one point on 2013. However the failure rate in some maths and science subjects is also on the rise.
