Today is 65 Roses Day - the annual fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland

Just like many other events in the past year the day is going virtual.

Ireland has the highest incidence of CF in the world and some of the most severe types.

There are almost 1,400 people living with CF in the country and the number is increasing each year as a result of improvements in treatment and care..

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland depend almost entirely on the public support for provision of their services and this 65 Roses Day  are hoping to raise more than 300,000 euro for much needed services for people with CF

Speaking to RedFM News Kate Walsh from Togher who lives with CF says the pandemic has had an impact on her life over the last 12 months

"So I had to cocoon for quite a long time last year, I was eventually able to go back to work in late August, and then of course we went back into a lockdown for six weeks and then we had Christmas but Christmas was so different I couldn't visit any family members, and then of course we're back in lockdown since, and of course I'm still out of work so it's very very tough, my job doesn't require me to work from home, I'm a receptionist at LeisureWorld in Churchfield. So I've actually been out of work."
