Tomorrow's strike by health workers deferred

Tomorrow's strike by health workers has been deferred to allow for talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.  

Siptu representatives have confirmed that a 24-hour workplace stoppage at 38 hospitals and healthcare facilities has been postponed at the request of the WRC.  

The union says discussions on the implementation of the job evaluation scheme will get under way tomorrow but preparations for strikes next Tuesday and Wednesday will continue. 

In a statement, the HSE has welcomed the deferral and says that hospitals will now work to reinstate services and appointments.
