Traders in Bandon threaten to withhold rates
64 traders won't pay their rates if the flood relief scheme is not delivered on time
A number of business owners in Bandon have threatened not to pay their rates if flood relief measures aren't delivered on time.
The group known as the Bandon Business Alliance formed in the aftermath of Storm Desmond following flooding in the town and they currently have over 60 members.
They say if the Bandon Flood Relief Scheme does not go ahead as planned in June of next year, they won't pay their commercial property rates which they claim amounts to over 1 million euro.
Minister of State Simon Harris visited the town yesterday and assured the community that that the scheme is on track but he says there are no guarantees there won't be further delays.
