Travellers Of North Cork group calls on County Council to respond to complaints

Cork County Council have been given until March 27th to respond to complaints about the living conditions that some travellers in North Cork are living in.

The organisation Travellers Of North Cork conducted a survey of the dwellings of some travellers who are living in local authority managed sites and houses  in the region and say the conditions are a violation of human rights. 

Their plight was presented to the council last Decemeber following a peaceful protest however those involved say they have received no response. 

The group is organising a meeting on March 27th with the families involved and their legal representatives and say they hope to have a response from the Council at this point.

The County Council says the details of each individual submission are currently being examined and an appropriate response will be issued in each case in the near future.

Speaking to RedFM News Anita Toner of the group says they've highlighted the case of 25 traveller familes but there are many more experiecing poor living conditions:
