Tributes pour in for Detective Garda Colm Horkan

The Garda Commissioner, the President and the Taoiseach have been leading the tributes to Detective Garda Colm Horkan.
He has been described as an experienced detective who was greatly respected.
Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald said it’s a sad and difficult day for gardai.
While Fianna Fail’s Jim O’Callaghan said Colm Horkan’s death wasn’t just an attack on one individual, but an attack on civilised society.
Local TD, Denis Naughton, says the community is devastated.
"I think all of us are absolutely shocked and saddened to think that a member of the force who was out doing his duties last night, protecting the local community, died on the streets of Castlerea."
