TUI members at ITs vote for industrial action

The ballot was take over the merger concerns.
The Teachers Union of Ireland members at Cork Institute of Technology could be set to go on strike.
It follows a vote by the 4,000 members of the Teacher Union of Ireland in favour of industrial action at IT's nationwide over the Technological Universities Bill.
The legislation says the colleges would have to merge in order to be considered for University status.
Members of the union at CIT have hit out at the amalgamation amid fears it could lead to the loss of jobs, a reduction in courses and have a negative impact on the quality of education.
However in a statement, the Munster Technological University highlighted the benefits of the university and claimed there will be no compulsory redundancies or redeployment.
President of the TUI Gerry Quinn says his members are extremely concerned by the measures.
