Two Cork women marry after legal issues yesterday

The couple planned on marrying yesterday in Cork.

Two Cork women who had to postpone their marriage yesterday due to legal difficulties with their paperwork have laid the blame at the door of the Registrar.

Dolores Murphy and Mabel Stoop Murphy were set to become one of the first same-sex couples in Ireland to marry yesterday however their planned marriage at Cork Registry Office didn't go ahead as there was an issue with the notice period surrounding their declaration of no impediment.

The couple were understandly very disappointed but they put their upset behind them and tied the knot this morning at 9 o'clock.

Dolores says they came under fire online yesterday with some suggesting that they expected special treatment - however Dolores says the fault lay completely with the Registrar who hadn't informed them of a 24 hour waiting period.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Dolores says while today was a happy occasion it wasn't as special for them as it could have been.
