Two week sit-in ends for Highway6 workers in Ballyvolance
A two week sit-in has ended for workers at a Ballyvolane petrol station. The six staff of the former Highway Retail run Texaco garage, who became known as the Highway6 after they staged a sit-in to secure their entitlements following the sudden closure of the outlet, will leave the premises at noon today. They received a call overnight from their legal representative who advised them, that following a successful round of talks between all parties involved, they would be kept on the payroll of the new operator who is set to take over next week. AUDIO: Speaking to RedFM News store manager Deirdre Creegan says while they didn't receive redundancy they're happy with the outcome but they insist change is needed to protect workers.
