Two women held at knifepoint in Mahon

Two women who have been threatened at knifepoint during an aggravated burglary at their house on the southside of the city have left their home and are staying with relatives. Three intruders forced their way into the top floor apartment at Hunters Green in Mahon at 11.20pm last night They tied up the occupants of the apartment - a mother and daughter - with a cable from a mobile phone and a scarf.. It's understood the 65 year old woman had recently suffered a stroke,.. The intruders - two of whom were masked - escaped with upwards of ten thousand euro in cash. The women managed to free themselves and raise the alarm - they were uninjured during their ordeal. A Garda investigation is continuing, and no arrests have been made but gardai are following a definite line of inquiry These locals in the area tell of their shock and upset for their neighbor Click PLAY to hear audio
