Scientists at the Centre for Marine and Renewable Energy are currently working on solutions to manage the effects of climate change on coastal communities in Ireland.
It's predicted that householders and businesses will be forced to move inland within the next 100 years as seas continue to rise and coastal flooding worsens.
Leeside many Cork towns have already been hit by severe flooding over recent years and speaking to RedFM News Barry O'Dwyer says these events should allow us to plan for the future.
