UCC students in Brussels desperate to get home to Cork

The students are on lock down in a hostel in the city where they spent a sleepless night


A group of UCC students on an educational trip to Brussels say they are desperate to get home to Cork.... 

Around 30 students and lecturers from the college's Geography Department arrived in the Belgian capital last Friday for an educational trip and are scheduled to return to Dublin tomorrow

Some of the students questioned whether it was safe to travel to the city before the trip however UCC confirmed to RedFM News that a risk assessment was completed in advance of the students travelling to Brussels and it was deemed to be safe.  

Speaking to RedFM News from Brussels in the past half an hour, UCC student Emily Healy who is on the trip, says they have been on lock down at the hostel since yesterday and are anxious to get home to their families
