UCC Students' Union Have Described Comments By The President Of The UCC As A 'Cop Out'
The President of the UCC was calling for a government action on a lack of student accommodation
Professor Patrick O'Shea tweeted that Cork has over 40,000 third level students and only 1,200 UCC owned beds and called for a 'national response' to the issue...
His comments come a week after members of the Student's Union began a protest on the university's historic quad in an effort to get UCC to scrap plans to introduce a 3% rent hike at five student apartment complexes.
UCC say their Campus Accommodation Board has been requested to reconvene this week to discuss the concerns of students.
Speaking to RedFM News, David Condon from the Student's Union says they had hoped President O'Shea would write an open letter to the board calling for the increase to be reversed:
