UN raises concerns about lack of fresh drinking water in Cork

The City Council has come under fire from the UN over the lack of access to water and sanitation for people who are homeless in Cork.

Two UN experts have raised concerns about the growing number of people living on the streets Leeside.

Cork has a population of  120,000 people and recent figures show that more than 700 are currently homeless.

Experts from the UN have expressed serious concerns that no construction of public toilets or facilities for fresh water,
has taken place in Cork in the past 10 years.

Calls have been made from the House the Homless group for the City Council to install public water drinking fountains and give homeless people access to clean toilets.
