Chronic understaffing in psychological supports is contributing to the large waiting lists for children seeking appointments.
That's according to Fianna Fail, which has been reacting to new HSE figures which show that more than 6 thousand 3 hundred children were waiting for a primary care psychology appointment at the end of August.
Over 1 thousand 6 hundred of them have been waiting for more than a year.
The party's Mental Health spokesperson James Browne says the government and the HSE have an obligation to do better by children and teenagers:
