Up to 30 people are dying from drug overdoses every year in Cork. That's according to the latest figures from the health research board who have also revealed that nationally one person in Ireland is dying everyday from drug overdose. It comes as two organisations that work with those affected by drug use are calling on the Government to fast track legislation that would sanction the use of Naloxone, a drug used to reverse the effects of overdoses. They're also calling for the establishment of a national overdose prevention strategy given the high numbers that are dying from overdoses every year. Speaking to RedFM News Mark Kennedy of Homeless and Drug Service Merchants Quay Ireland says the figures Leeside show that change is needed as the numbers deaths has remained above 20 since 2014.
