No-one injured, but local school evacuated due to large black smoke plume
Fire crews remain at Irish Seafood facTory at Ra near Baltimore after a major blaze broke out this morning
Students at nearby Ra National School had to be evacuated on health and safety grounds due to a large plume of black smoke in the area
There were reports of an explosion at the factory before the fire broke out shortly before 10.15am
Five units of the County Fire Service responded to the factory and while the fire is under control they remain at the scene.
Visibility in the area is said to be very poor due to the smoke plume and as a result a section of the Skibbereen and Baltimore road has been closed
Diversions are in operation to allow for the removal of debris off the road with motorists urged to use what is known locally as the "Old Road" ..
Employees at the fish factory were all evacuated and gardai say there are no reports of any injuries
