Varadkar defends speech about a united Ireland

Leo Varadkar has defended his speech about a united Ireland saying it's never a bad time to talk about the future.
Opening the Fine Gael Ard Fheis last night Varadkar said he believes he will see a united Ireland in his lifetime.
The timing of the contribution has been questioned amid tensions in the North over the appointments of a new First and Deputy First Minister.
But Leo Varadkar doesn't think his contribution will impact that.
"I don't believe so, and I don't think it will or it should affect relations between the parties in Northern Ireland.
"If they're unable to put together an executive in the next week, it will be because of the relations between the parties in Northern Ireland, not anything external in my view.
"I think they will be able to do that though, having talked to them last week."
