Varadkar expects new government to be in place in five weeks

The Taoiseach has told his parliamentary party he believes a government will be place within five weeks.

Leo Varadkar held a three-hour meeting with Fine Gael's TDs, senators and MEPs last night.

He told them he's confident it will be possible to form a new government by June.

According to a party source, the majority of members are in favour of a coalition with Fianna Fáil and the Greens.

The three parties are due to start formal negotiations tomorrow.
