Vernon Mount House has been regularly targeted by vandals

That's according to the caretaker of the 18th century house who says he's not surprised but is very saddened at the destruction of the house by fire overnight.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation but it is being treated as suspicious.
Gardai say they believe the blaze may have been caused by teenagers lighting a bonfire on the property but they've stressed they're awaiting the results of a forensic examination before deciding what direction their investigation will take.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM caretaker of Vernon Mount House Willie Deasy, says the house was broken into four times in the last fortnight
