Victims Of Famine Remembered Today

Victims of the Famine will be remembered at the National Commemoration Ceremony in Tipperary today.

Around 1 million people died and another million emigrated when the potato crop failed between 1845 and 1852.

The Taoiseach and Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys will officiate at the Ceremony at the Famine Warhouse 1848 in Ballingarry. 

While Leo Varadkar will plant a tree and unveil a commemorative plaque.
