Vigil to be held at St Vincent's Secondary School

A vigil is to be held outside St Vincent's Secondary School this morning by parents concerned over the possible merger of the school with two other schools.
In April concern was expressed after the North Monastery all-boys school, Saint Vincent's all girls school and North Presentation all girls school said they were exploring the future of catholic education provision on the northside of the city.
At the time the parents association at St Vincent's all girls school described the proposed merger as regressive if it goes against the wishes of the students and the parents.
A member of the association say they want to ensure that parents are given a choice to send their daughters to an all girls school or a mixed school in the locality.
Since then the Save St Vincent's Secondary School group has been formed who say they are standing together to show their desire to remain as a single sex all-girls school.
They will gather outside the school gates at 9am this morning in what they have described as a public display of unity.
