Walkers join Cork Mum on protest walk to Dublin

Walkers have come out in force this afternoon to join a Cork woman on a protest walk from Cork to Dublin.
Vera Twomey from Blarney, left her home this morning and intends to walk to the Minister for Health's office in Dublin calling for a change to legislation surrounding the use of cannabis related products for medicinal purposes.
Her daughter Ava suffers from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravets Syndrome, causing her to have up to 16 seizures a day.
Currently products such as cannabis oil are illegal in Ireland, but Vera is calling on the Governement to change this so her daughter can have CBD prescribed to her.
Minister Simon Harris has issued a statement saying the matter will be discussed by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health next month.
