Warning from Irish Coastguard

After a tragic weekend for Irish swimmers, the coastguard is repeating its warning not to drink and dive. Since the heatwave began over two weeks ago, 10 people have drowned in Ireland - including a 10 year old boy in the sea off Youghal. The body of the latest victim, a 65-yr-old man from County Tipperary was found in a quarry near Carrick-on-Suir yesterday. The high temperatures over the weekend drew large crowds to our beaches and inland waterways. And despite the cooler conditions predicted for today the Coastguard is still expecting many call-outs.
