Doctors have issued a serious warning against tanning jabs. It's after a 33-year old woman developed several irregular moles after receiving two injections at a beauticians. The woman went to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin after she noticed that dark and irregular moles on her skin one week after receiving two injections of the tanning drug Melanotan. A lesion was removed and it was found to be benign. The Irish Medical Journal says the case highlights the risk associated with the unlicensed jabs which are frequently used in salons or bought over the internet. Doctors say Melanotan - which is not licensed for use in the EU - is 1,000 times more powerful than the naturally occurring hormone that brings about tanning.
