Water To Be Pumped Out Of Cargo Ship Washed Up In East Cork

Water will be pumped out of the cargo ship that washed up in East Cork following Storm Denis.
The crew of the MV Alta abandoned it in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in September 2018 after its engines failed.
The ship wreck finally washed up in Ballycotton last Sunday.
Marine contractors boarded the vessel yesterday and found a number of sealed containers of oil and other materials, but no cargo.
A further inspection will take place today, where it's expected water will be pumped out so the containers can be safely removed.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork County Council, County Engineer, Kevin Morey says there's a lot to consider when attempting to access fuel tanks:
